The 1960 TRT was having issues with the recording equipment and whilst it was off for repairs, this 1972mk2 unit, borrowed from the Bakerloo line, was filling in for the meantime, even returning back to the Northern Line after over 20 odd years away. It is fully compatible with the signalling system and can operate on the Piccadilly line during service hours. When it returned to the Northern line, it could only use it during engineering hours at night without the 1995 stock running at the same time as the line upgraded to automatic train operation and not compatible with the signalling system to run during service hours, since it left for the Bakerloo line in the late 1980s.

I wonder why the underground tunnels on the London Underground are pitch black, and you can't see anything in the tunnel?

Years ago I was getting off the tube with my dad and I took longer cos I was afraid of the gap. My dad had a bag on his back and as he went to get off the door shut with him on the outside and the bag on the inside with it still attached to him and me and my mum shouted STOP!!! As the train started to pull away . Thankfully stopped just before it went in the tunnel . I’ve never forgotten (this was the early 1990s)

Beautiful, used to run on the Piccadilly line 1938 stock on the Isle of Wight until a few years ago when they sadly modernised the island line

I'm not sure if the commentary was a person or a robot but it was incredibly boring. Some facts were given, but no additional interesting/personality information. The tunnels seemed pitch black in contrast to another underground train video I recently watched where signals and signs were reasonably clear, plus a commentary explanation was given. Maybe the camera wasn't high quality. Anyway, 23 minutes was MORE than enough for me, whereas I watched the previous video from start to finish. I don't wish to be cruel to the producers...just honest so they may up their game if any of my comments were constructive.

It would be nice if they said what station they were arriving at.

Dunno how safe it is to run along the tracks like that, but you have to be the fastest man i've ever seen

I was a student in London from 1988 to 1992. I sometimes took trains from Edgware to the city if I wanted a leisurely ride (rather than the faster Jubilee line). I believe at that time the Northern Line trains were not this color. Anyway thanks for such a nostalgic video

Everyone want to go to the tunnel but it preety spooky do go there and i saw a ghost when i was sleep early. Went I wake up 7PM it was all my dream anyways i going to Wednesday at school

Hi. I am not absolutely sure but I think that Burnt Oak ( for Watling ) maybe something to do with Watling Street which is the Roman road that heads north out of London.

the video is a lesson to learn not to enter the train at any time when it is ready to depart

It’s really cool how you go from rough looking old style stations to much newer modern looking stations. Good stuff. I really do find that the fans on these when at a stand are so eerie sounding. Does anyone know why they make this sound?
